We are Saboteur, an independent brand studio on a mission to set brands free.
We always start with two simple but revealing questions:
What do you want to be free from?
And, what do you want to be free to do or be?

The Saboteurs
We’re a diverse team of independent-minded, ambitious people. Between us we’ve lived and worked all over the world, and speak ten languages in the studio, though not all at once.
And no job titles. We just choose what kind of Saboteur we are.

Things you should know

When we started Saboteur, we wrote ourselves a manifesto. It put into words – and pictures – what made us different, how we work, and what we could bring to the world. We called it Things You Should Know and it's as true now as the day we started.

Seriously. This is the first rule. In our experience the best work is done with a sense of exhilaration. “Can we really get away with this?” is our favourite question.

Our mission is to set brands free, so we start with a place where brilliant talent is set free. No mandatory days in the studio. Freedom to manage your time as you see best. And no set holiday allowance – you take as much as you need. The best people work best when they feel free to work the way they want to.

There are no job titles here. What matters is the talent and personality you bring. Each project has a team and each member will have a clear role. You’ll be part of many teams, playing different roles each time. For the right project, you’ll be the team leader. Other times, you’ll be there to support. We think this gives everyone the chance to be at their best.

We believe in freedom of information. Everyone sees how the business is doing all year round. And we make the big decisions together. It’s important. You have a right to know.

Saboteurs are life-long learners. Starting out on a project where you think you know the answer is a miserable experience, like painting a long fence. We’d rather find a new answer (we don’t like fences anyway, on principle). So, we are always looking for new discoveries. All suggestions welcome.

Being part of a team means you fail together, and succeed together. It means trusting one another, and being brave enough to seek out feedback. It means valuing mistakes as chances to learn and grow. That’s what teams are all about.

There’s a whole world out there, beyond the bubble that we work in. That’s where we want the impact of our work to be felt so we try to bring as much of it into our thinking as we can.

We don’t believe that just a few special people have all the ideas and create the great work. Here we all have ideas. We all challenge each other. And we all experiment. It means you can’t sit back, but then it means your voice matters. Let’s hear it.

We want you to be at your best. Do what you need to, to make sure your energy levels and all your other levels are where you want them to be. There’s a park at one end of the road and a pub at the other. Each to their own.

Our rules are for people who don’t like rules. So there’s one big difference – if you’re going to live by the rules you should be able to write the rules. You’ll see lots of ways for us to do things better – please don’t keep them to yourself. Your ideas are why you’re here and we want to hear them.
