The Florence Nightingale Foundation has been providing scholarships to nurses and midwives in the UK since 1934, making a significant difference to patient care, policy and practice. But while the legacy and name of Florence Nightingale still have real value, her image rooted the Foundation in the past. The Florence Nightingale Foundation needed its communications to relate to today’s nurses and midwives. It needed to free itself from ‘the lady of the lamp’ in order to shine a light on modern nursing.
The new brand positioning ‘Shine a Light’ was brought to life with a dynamic light beam motif that shines across all the communications. Turning shade into light, it places a spotlight on the FNF scholars and highlights the transformational experiences the Foundation provides, taking students from aspiring to achieving, bright to brilliant.
