The Foraging Saboteur
Yafet Bisrat

The foraging saboteur has already made his mark in the world with a series of small but meticulously curated collections. He started in a modest fashion, with football stickers and stamps (not the kind you get in clubs, the ones we used to stick on envelopes). Like all true collectors he didn't care so much for the things themselves, it was all about the process of accumulation and cataloguing. This is the only possible explanation for a man who only has two feet but owns more than seventy pairs of trainers. He also has the boxes the trainers came in. Of course he does.
Always a meticulous craftsman, it was rumoured in his schooldays that he would occasionally slip from foraging to forging. This suspicion was generated by a mysterious bus pass that never seemed to expire. The fact that his favourite film was ‘Catch Me If You Can’ didn’t help.
Like all great curators, Yaf believes that the micro contains the macro: the big idea is revealed by the details. But his fine-tuned, not to say obsessive, tendencies have served him well in his design career where he has already assembled a fine collection of awards for, amongst other things, a series of stamps. Proof that for a true forager nothing is ever wasted. Everything will one day find its purpose. Yes, even seventy empty shoe boxes.
